What to have ready

• Your address, and whether it is a home or a business
• What you can see or hear, in your own words
• Whether water is currently escaping
• Whether you have found and closed the main shut-off
• Roughly how old the property is, if you know

If it is an emergency right now

Shut the water off at the main valve, usually near the meter or where the supply enters the building. If water is near outlets or a panel, switch that circuit off at the breaker. Then call.

If you smell gas, leave the building first. Do not use switches or phones indoors. Call your gas utility's emergency line from outside, then call us.
